My client is on the lookout for a confident and compassionate Head Veterinary Nurse to lead a dynamic nursing team in a thriving St Albans practice. If you’re ready to take on a leadership role in a friendly, supportive environment, this could be the perfect role for you!

At this purpose-built clinic you’ll work in a modern practice equipped to industry-leading standards with state-of-the-art technology. Facilities include a full operating theatre, in-house Idexx lab, digital x-ray, modern dental machine, endoscopy, and more! Alongside first-opinion cases, they also conduct orthopedic surgeries, providing a stimulating and diverse caseload.
The clinic is well-connected, with easy access to the M1 and M25, and led by a Partner who brings over a decade of experience and a passion for rescue and orthopaedics. the dedicated team includes 4 ½ vets, RVNs, SVNs, VCAs, Receptionists, and a Practice Manager—all united by a commitment to progressive, compassionate animal care.
About You
They are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse who is not only skilled and experienced but also ready to take the next step into a leadership role. As Head Nurse, you will guide, inspire, and support a nursing team, ensuring the smooth running of the practice and the highest standards of patient care.
Ideally you will be aRegistered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) with several years of experience, ideally in a leadership or senior nurse role. Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to delegate effectively and support team growth. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A passion for animal welfare and dedication to exceptional care. Confidence in all areas of nursing, from surgery to patient care and diagnostics. A desire to mentor, especially in clinical coaching and developing skills in areas like orthopaedics.
•    Salary: From £32,000 upwards (DOE/full-time)
•    Hours: 40 hours per week, no OOHs
•    Generous CPD allowance and funding towards certificates
•    Holiday: 5.6 weeks initially, increasing to 6.6 weeks after 2 years
