Our client is looking for a Large Animal Veterinary Surgeon to their friendly farm and equine team (they could facilitate applicants looking for 100% farm). You will also be partnering with a local practice who will provide access to a varied team and equipment.
You would be involved in caring for a range of farms, with a good mix of beef, dairy, and sheep, and the client runs a smallholder’s club to look after the increasing number of non-professional farmers in the area. You will have the chance to gain experience in looking after goats, alpacas, and pigs, and they have a wide range of equine clients if that is an area of interest too.
They are happy to accept both full/part-time applications, working between 8:30am-5:30pm, which occasional earlier starts or finishes which would be agreed in advance with clients. There is a 1:5 weekday and weekend on-call rota, with the you getting the Monday off following a weekend on call.

This modern farm and equine practice is conveniently based on the outskirts of Cardigan town centre. The farm Vets have the experience and time to mentor younger colleagues and include certificate holders in advanced veterinary practice in cattle, and mastitis control plan deliverers. They fully support any Vet who wishes to undertake a certificate and currently have a Vet completing a certificate in advanced veterinary practice in camelid medicine.
The neighboring practice who you will be working closely with is a thriving first-opinion mixed practice located in the heart of a charming rural town in West Wales. The practice is a delightful blend of 50% companion animals, 40% farm animals, and 10% equine cases. They are proud of their RCVS Practice Standards accreditation across small, farm, and equine categories. The practice ethos revolves around maintaining excellent clinical standards, fostering a supportive and inclusive working environment, and delivering compassionate care to clients and patients.
Salary is up to £63k pa DOE.
