Our client is a busy mixed practice based just outside of Wendover, a small market town with great transport links to London and the rest of the country via train.  They are now looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join them.

At the main branch there are excellent facilities with x-ray, dental x-ray, ultrasound, and a well-equipped laboratory. They have cat, dog, and exotic kennels, as well as separate isolation kennels.  They also have fenced paddock areas for inpatient exercise.  The branch surgery is much smaller, but also busy with a strong client base and a more family feel.
They are also a training practice with the College of Animal Welfare (CAW) and take both degree and diploma students.  The main surgery is based just outside of Wendover, with the branch close by. The main surgery borders Wendover Woods and is surrounded by beautiful scenery (including a fantastic sunset on a good day!), they encourage staff to get out at lunchtime for a scenic walk with their dogs which they have specific facilities for during the working day.  They have staff kennels so you are able to bring your dog to work.  Not only does it mean that you do not have to worry about your dog being at home alone on those busy days, but you can also get out of the building at lunch time.

As a practice they still offer their own OOH service and therefore currently offer a 1 in 8 weekend rota with sleeping night duties also included on a rota basis.  The work-life balance is important to everyone and therefore offer a 35-hour week to balance out any unsocial hours you may encounter during OOH work. A typical working week comprises of 5 working days with variable 7 hour shifts between 7am and 7.30pm, some weekday sleeping duty shifts are included within this and accommodation is provided (additional OOH retainer fees are paid on top of agreed upon salary).

The ideal candidate will be a small animal nurse who enjoys all aspects of their job – from clinics to theatre to patient care.

The nursing team is currently made up of 16 Registered Veterinary Nurses (both Small Animal and Equine), 4 Student Veterinary Nurses, and 1 Veterinary Care Assistant. They also have 13 SA Vets and 4 Equine Vets as well as an onsite Hydrotherapist and Physiotherapist.  There is a wonderful and collaborative team and very much encourage nurses to take their interests further and support further training.  Several members of the nursing team have advanced certificates in various areas – such as Surgical Nursing, Anaesthesia, Medical Nursing, Exotic Nursing, Feline Nursing, Behaviour & Nutrition.  They also love to train nurses of the future so previous experience as a clinical coach, or a willingness to become one, would be advantageous.

Salary is up to £30k pa DOE and there is a relocation allowance of up to £1k if required.
