Our client based in Brighton are looking for an experienced small animal vet with an strong exotic bias to join the team at their main hospital site. This is a busy clinical unit being open 24/7 providing a wide range of services to the local Brighton pet owning community, and also to a much wider community through its emergency, out of hours and referral services.
The hospital is fully equipped with CT, ventilator, endoscopes as well as other diagnostic and monitoring equipment of a high standard, and has attained RCVS hospital status. They also have a separate ward for exotics including vivarium's and kennels for rabbits and have all the equipment needed for small mammal dentistry. The hospital is also able to offer clients the following specialities by either resident or visiting specialists: Dermatology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, feline medicine , endoscopy and laparoscopy, exotic pet medicine and surgery , hydrotherapy and laser therapy.
The caseload is 100% exotics during the week, however you must be competent with other small animal work for the weekend shifts. You will be rotated to work with the other exotic vets through inpatient, surgery and consults and CPD is freely available to all clinicians, plus there is encouragement and funding available for those who wish to study to certificate level and beyond. The caseload is varied with small mammals, reptiles, birds and aquatic pets,
so an eclectic clinical experience is assured. There are no night duties as these are covered by our OOH team and just 1:5 weekends.
The position comes with a competitive salary starting around £50k dependant on experience, 6 weeks paid holiday [including statutory bank holidays] and a CPD allowance of £1750K p/a plus 5 days CPD study time, RCVS membership and membership to one professional association of your choice. Enhanced sick pay, maternity, paternity, parental leave pay. Ideally they would like a vet with a certificate or advanced practitioner status, however vets who would like to work towards this will also be considered.
